Not many people realise it, but in order for your central heating system to maintain its high level of efficiency, it needs some good old fashioned TLC.  Central Heating systems are prone to damaging effects such as corrosion and lime scale, and an untreated system, can be affected in a variety of ways, including radiator cold spots, where metal oxides have built up inside the radiator, boiler noise, and pump seizure or failure, all of which can result in costly repairs or replacements, and these damages can therefore have a long term affect on your boiler efficiency.  Although a boiler is considered highly efficient, if rated in SEDBUK band A or B, without effective water treatment, lime scale and iron oxide deposits could diminish the efficiency of that boiler over time. Central Heating Cleaners are neutral cleansers that are designed to remove all debris, sludge and scale from existing systems, and can therefore restore energy efficiency and reduce boiler noise.  Central Heating Cleaners are particularly effective for use with older systems, and can be used in conjunction with a power flushing unit.  Like Protectors, they are simple and easy to add to your system, either via your feed and expansion tank, or directly into a radiator, depending on the type of system you have.  It is important to determine the correct dosage before application, and follow manufacturer’s instructions.
