Nest

Founded in 2010, Nest is a leading home automation producer of self-programmable, senor-driven WiFi-enabled thermostats and security systems. Innovation and creativity has long been at the forefront of Nest’s work, and Nest is focused on creating the ‘thoughtful home’ – a home that takes care of the people inside it and the world around it.

Co-founded by former Apple engineers Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers, Nest is the poster-child of the smart home.  The company uses the latest technology to deliver modern solutions for the home, and released its first product in 2011 – the Nest Learning Thermostat. Since then, the company introduced the Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector in 2013, and released the Nest Cam Outdoor in 2016. Investing in ahead-of-the-curve research and product development, their products leave other competitors in the dust.

Nest Labs was acquired by Alphabet Inc (Google) for $3.2 billion in 2014, and Nest has expanded rapidly ever since. With over 11,000 employees and a new engineering centre in Seattle, Nest has grown from a start-up to a large corporation with a dominant world-wide presence. As of November 2016, Nest now works with Google Home.

Nest is committed to social responsibility, and the Nest Learning Thermostat uses cutting edge technology to find ways to reduce your energy consumption. Unlike a normal thermostat, Nest learns your heating habits to programme itself, and provides energy usage reports to help you optimise your energy consumption.  With Auto-Schedule, motion sensor Auto-Away functions and weather forecasting technology, the Nest Learning thermostat will alter your heating accordingly. Without you having to lift a finger, Nest stops you using more money and energy than you have to.

Nest is fully compliant with RoHS (restriction of Hazardous Substances Directives) and require the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard certification in suppliers. In the same way that their products aim to introduce greater efficiency, Nest ensure they produce products with the environment in mind.
